Inspiration
For this piece I decided to base my artwork on Georgia o' Keeffe. O'Keeffe is known for her flower painting and since this project was going to be a flower Georgia was a great inspiration. Both Jimson Weed and Apple Blossom were paintings that inspired me as an artist to complete this piece called Broken. The paintings consists of a variety of colors and detailed texture. As seen Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings I realized that the colors she used were light colors. Since I wanted my piece to be similar to her painting but not exactly the same I decided to paint my flowers with much darker hues.

Meaning Behind the Piece
With this piece I wanted to portray the life of a women who is opened to the world even though she is broken in the inside. The flowers portray women but I made them from broken pieces to represent the broken part of the women. With "broken" I mean the bad experiences that happen that mark a women forever. No matter what a women goes through at the end of the day either one gets up and puts one self back together like the flower or lives an unhappy life. With the vibrant distinct hues I wanted to portray the positivity in the life of a women. The glass vase and the items inside is what makes the flower look pretty, which represents the things in a women that make her feel pretty and be pretty.
Process
1) Brainstorming
2) Sketching
3) Final Steps to final piece
Reflection
This project was easy to create but not to plan. The planning part took me quite a while, since I couldn't ideally think of anything that was industrial and had to be an outcome of an organic item or visa versa. I did some research on spoon art and I bumped into plenty of things that could be created with plastic spoons. I realized that the spoons were considered industrial and that I could make a tree or a flower with them. After I decided that I wanted to create flowers with plastic spoons I had to come up with a meaning for them. Every time I see a flower I think of a female and after I think of that I think of happiness. Flowers are colorful and pretty, so after having that in mind I came up with the meaning of this piece.
I must admit that it was easy to create this piece but at the same time a bit complicated. One has to have good craftsmanship in order for the piece to look lovely. This project involves silicone therefore one must be clean when applying the glue to the spoons. If one is messy with the project then the silicone will be noticeable and all over the place.
Struggles : Being clean with the project, since silicone is messy
Failures : Covering the whole spoon with acrylic paint
Successes : The appearance of the piece
