Exhibition Text
The artist Lesley Morales focuses with this project on the beginning of her existence. The theme for this art piece is based upon dreams. The purpose of this block print was to reflect how a vast amount of people out there have a dream and their journey to their dream isn't always easy. Dreams can be accomplished if they're priority. Inspiration was directed from the art piece "Ladder to the Moon" by Georgia O'Keeffe.

Inspiration
For this project I decided to inspire my outcome with the piece "Ladder to the Moon" by Georgia O'Keeffe. I strongly believe that even though this art piece is fair simple it has an enormous meaning to it. Sometimes the simplest things are the ones to have a much greater impact. As soon as I saw this piece I knew right away my outcome was going to look similar to this piece, specially with the theme I chose. Since I chose the theme of Dreams for this piece I knew this piece was ideal for my outcome. I already had in mind the meaning I wanted for this project, with that in mind it made my sketching more easier. This piece creates such an impact from the variety of color to the structure of the outcome. As I see this art piece I can say that in my perspective as little as one's goal is a path is in the way no matter what. Since I wanted to incorporate migration in my project, this piece was the best to demonstrate that meaning.

Meaning Behind the piece
When observing The Path to Success one can right away get in idea on what the meaning behind the piece is and that is exactly the for this particular piece. Both of my parents are from Mexico and migrated to the United States approximately eighteen years. As like anyone who did the same the reason was to have a better future and life. With The Path of Success I wanted to reflect that the way to my parents goal wasn't fairly simple. It took days to arrive to their destination.
As being a daughter of parents who left their life to come to a completely new world and create their own makes me extremely proud of my parents. It makes me proud that they did such a great thing for me, for me to be the person I am now a day. I wanted to recognize their extreme risk somehow one day and this project is what I was waiting for to complete that. Even though the outcome is simple and doesn't have extreme detail it has a powerful meaning it.

Reflection
I must admit this was one of the hardest project that I have completed this whole semester. All the way from carving to the actual printing process. This project consists of fine lines and that is total honesty one of the hardest things for me since my hand seems to shake when completing lines. There were times where I had no idea if I was carving deep enough or I was being too rough. Overall I learned a lot, all the way from learning how to use all the tools for this project to how to do the printing process for a good decent clean outcome. I feel my outcome could have been way better but my time management was not very well organized.
Struggles: Having the exact shape sketch I had completed in paper
Failures: Having a clean and visible print!
Success: Never gave up and continued even if it wasn't what I expected
